CATL sets up joint venture with Changan Automobile, deepens cooperation with AVATR

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On December 20, Chinese battery giant CATL inked an agreement with automaker Changan Automobile, to set up a joint venture together.

According to CATL, the joint venture will help the two parties to complement their respective advantages, synergize, and create value throughout the relationship. CATL will give full play to its comprehensive innovation ability and core advantages in the power battery R&D, production, manufacturing, after-market service, etc., to help Changan Automobile reinforce its product competitiveness.

On the same day, CATL also signed an agreement to deepen its partnership with new energy vehicle brand AVATR, which was jointly established by Changan Automobile, CATL, and Huawei. 

Leveraging CATL and AVATR’s respective resource and technological accumulations, the duo aims to build an industry-leading battery supply system based on advanced battery technology, providing solid support for AVATR’s high-end intelligent electric vehicle product deployment.

Notably, AVATR’s first production model, the AVATR 11, as well as its limited-edition variant, the AVATR 011, successfully rolled off the production lines on December 20. According to the automaker, first batch of the vehicles will be delivered at the end of December.
