Shanghai (Gasgoo)- XPENG AEROHT, an urban air mobility (UAM) company and an affiliate of XPeng Inc., announced on Monday via its WeChat account it has officially received a licensed flight certificate issued by the CAAC Central and Southern Regional Administration (“CAAC” stands for Civil Aviation Administration of China), making the XPENG X2 the first manned electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVOTL) product in China to get the official flight approval.

According to XPENG AEROHT, in accordance with relevant provisions of the CCAR-21 Civil Aviation Product and Component Conformity Validation Regulations, the CAAC Central and Southern Regional Administration agreed that the X2 can safely conduct flight activities under licensed conditions and also issued the flight license to the X2.

The XPENG X2 is the fifth-generation flying car in-house developed and manufactured by XPENG AEROHT. For the first time, the X2 adopts an enclosed cockpit with a minimalist teardrop-shaped design and a sci-fi appearance that takes high-efficient aerodynamics into account to achieve the ultimate in-flight performance. In order to reduce weight, the XPENG X2 has a complete carbon fiber structure.

On Oct. 10, 2022, XPENG AEROHT conducted the first flight of the XPENG X2 at Skydive Dubai, marking the X2's first public display after completing the specific operations risk assessment and achieving a special flying permit from the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority.
