Brunp Recycling, Mercedes-Benz sign MoU for closed-loop battery recycling
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On Feb. 27th, 2023, Hunan Brunp Recycling Technology Co., Ltd. (“Hunan Brunp”) and Mercedes-Benz signed an memorandum of understanding (MoU) to carry out cooperation on a closed-loop recycling project of power batteries, according to a post on the WeChat account of Guangdong Brunp Recycling Technology Co., Ltd. (“Brunp Recycling”).
Under the MoU, Hunan Brunp will recycle decommissioned power batteries from Mercedes-Benz, and reuse such key raw materials as nickel, cobalt, manganese, and lithium to regenerate battery cathode materials, which will be provided for CATL to make power batteries. The finished batteries will be installed onto Mercedes-Benz’s passenger vehicles.

At the same time, the two parties will carry out extensive and in-depth cooperation on battery recycling technologies and recycling business models.
Hunan Brunp is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brunp Recycling, a power battery recycling firm majority-owned by CATL. Brunp Recycling has so far set up 251 battery recycling outlets across China, and formed long-term and stable cooperation with a number of well-known domestic and foreign car companies such as Volvo Cars, BMW, FAW-Volkswagen, and GAC Toyota in the battery recycling business.
Through this cooperation, Brunp Recycling will leverage its innovative technologies for battery recycling and resource utilization to support Mercedes-Benz in effectively improving energy efficiency and creating an industrial closed loop capable of sustainable development.
