BMW Group sees China EV sales more than triple YoY in Q1 2023

Beijing (Gasgoo)- German auto giant BMW Group announced on Tuesday its first-quarter sales performance in China via its official WeChat account, which showed robust growth in battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales.

In the first quarter of 2023, BMW delivered more than 194,000 units of BMW and MINI vehicles to the Chinese market. Among the vehicles delivered in the past three months, nearly 20,000 units were BEVs, which more than tripled from a year ago. 

At the upcoming Auto Shanghai 2023, BMW will showcase its innovative battery-electric BMW iX1 model on site. Notably, the entire BMW display at the auto show will be consist of only electrified vehicle models, which will be a first to the German auto giant. 

According to BMW Group, almost all of the dealers within its franchised distribution network in China have completed BMW i business authorization, further demonstrating the automaker’s determination in electrification.

Up to now, BMW’s charging network has expanded to cover over 500,000 public charging piles in more than 320 cities in China, providing easy access for BMW’s new energy vehicle users.
