In addition to new models, NIO's two yet-to-be-launched new brands have also received widespread attention. NIO's president, Qin Lihong, revealed that "Alps" and "Firefly" are both internal project codenames rather than the brands’ name. He explained that Alps is mainly targeted at the mid-end market and will directly take on such brands as Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Ford. Firefly will launch smaller-sized models.
He added that these two new brands are currently being intensively prepared and will be launched before the end of next year. As for when the first models of the two brands will be released and delivered, there is no further news yet.
Meanwhile, William Bin Li, CEO of NIO, said that the company’s future electric vehicles will still be divided into high-end, mass-market, and entry-level brands. It is impossible for a single brand to cover the price range from tens of thousands of yuan to hundreds of thousands of yuan.
