Great Wall Motor sees Apr. 2023 sales soar 73.14% YoY with all brands scoring growth
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Great Wall Motor (“GWM”) said on Monday its monthly new vehicles sales surged 73.14% over a year earlier to 93,107 units in Apr. 2023, reversing the year-on-year downward movement for seven consecutive months ended Mar. this year.
Notably, all brands of GWM scored a year-over-year growth in their monthly sales. Of them, the SUV-dedicated HAVAL outsold others with a sales volume of 52,264 units (+79.45% YoY), while the new energy vehicle (NEV) brand ORA was the fastest-growing one with a three-digit growth of 188.24% over a year earlier. Besides, both Great Wall Pick-up and TANK saw their Apr. sales jump at a two-digit rate.
WEY, which focuses on premium SUVs, scored a 3.58% year-on-year growth in its Apr. sales, which came in at 2,375 units.

WEY put the Blue Mountain DHT-PHEV six-seater SUV onto the market on Apr. 13. The model recorded a sales volume of 1,050 units after its delivery kicked off on Apr. 25.
For the first four months of this year, GWM’s cumulative sales still dipped 7.18% over the previous year to 313,075 units. Of its brands, only Great Wall Pick-up and TANK saw their Jan.-Apr. sales grow from the year-ago level.
GWM’s NEV sales reached 14,863 units last month, soaring 284.06% compared to the same span in 2022. As of Apr., the company had sold 42,671 NEVs this year.
In addition, GWM also said its export volume and the sales of overseas markets totaled 21,814 units (+182.09% YoY) in Apr., resulting in a year-to-date volume of 73,789 units.
