Changan Automobile boasts 32.49% YoY surge in May auto sales
Beijing (Gasgoo)- In May 2023, Chinese automaker Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. (Changan Automobile) recorded a 32.49% surge in monthly sales compared to a year ago.
In the past month, Changan Automobile sold a total of 200,197 vehicles, up 10.01% from the previous month. Among the vehicles sold last month, 29,288 units were new energy vehicles (NEVs) under Changan Automobile's wholly-owned brands, which shot up 113.42% year on year while leaping 30.19% month over month.

In the first five months of this year, Changan Automobile’s cumulative sales volume amounted to 989,985 vehicles, climbing 7.8% from a year ago. Year-to-date sales of the automaker’s wholly-owned brands summed up to 835,251 units, representing a 12.74% increase over the prior-year period. Among the wholly-owned brands’ vehicles sold in the Jan.-May period, 96,170 units were sold in overseas markets to reflect a 17.05% rise from the same period in 2022.
As to Changan Automobile’s two joint ventures, Changan Ford scored a 48.22% year-on-year hike in May sales, which came in at 19,518 units. Meanwhile, Changan Mazda faced a 20.79% year-over-year decline with 6,902 vehicles sold in the past month.
