ECARX increases investment in JICA Intelligent Robotics

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Global mobility technology company ECARX Holdings Inc. (ECARX) announced its plan to increase investment in and obtain controlling stake of JICA Intelligent Robotics Co., Ltd. ("JICA").

JICA is a technology enterprise focuses on intelligent driving products. This round of funding will enable ECARX to further enhance its market penetration within the Geely ecosystem and other segments in the industry, accelerating overall revenue growth.

JICA possesses end-to-end research and development capabilities in autonomous driving technology, covering smart cockpit, intelligent driving, ancillary products, perception sensors, decisioning algorithms, vehicle control strategies, underlying systems, hardware development, and testing validation.

The increased investment sets a clear strategic path for both ECARX and JICA, allowing the two companies to strengthen their cooperation while focusing on their respective core competencies and missions. ECARX will continue to expand its diverse customer base beyond the Geely ecosystem, while JICA will continue developing intelligent products and providing services for Geely's flagship vehicle models.

The transaction agreement was already signed on June 30, 2023. According to the agreement, ECARX' equity in JICA will increase from 50% to 70%.

For ECARX Holdings, the investment will help it in facilitating accelerated revenue growth and further diversification of the customer structure. By incorporating JICA's expertise into ECARX's technology product portfolio, its advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) capabilities will be enhanced. Moreover, through optimizing ECARX’s overall research and development capabilities, the company will be able to participate in the development of more centralized vehicle electronic and electrical architectures, including domain controllers.
