Changan Automobile posts 8.81% YoY rise in June 2023 auto sales

Beijing (Gasgoo)- In the sixth month of 2023, Chinese automaker Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. (Changan Automobile) saw its monthly sales climb up 8.81% compared to a year ago.

In June, Changan Automobile’s monthly sales came in at 225,696 vehicles, summing up to a cumulative volume of 1,215,681 vehicles in the first half of 2023, which also rose 7.99% from the year-ago period. 

Among the vehicles sold last month, 39,734 units were new energy vehicles (NEVs) under Changan Automobile's wholly-owned brands, representing a 117.51% year-on-year spike and a 35.67% month-on-month jump.

In the first six months of this year, cumulative sales of the automaker’s wholly-owned brands amounted to 1,020,506 units, representing a 13.39% increase over the prior-year period. Among the wholly-owned brands’ vehicles sold in the Jan.-Jun. period, 116,218 units were sold in overseas markets to reflect a 14.3% increase year-on-year and a 20.85% leap month-on-month.

As to Changan Automobile’s two joint ventures, both Changan Ford and Changan Mazda encountered a double-digit decline in June sales compared to that of a year ago. Specifically, Changan Ford reported a monthly sales volume of 20,153 vehicles (-25.83% YoY), while sales of Changan Mazda stood at 7,411 vehicles (-28.7% YoY).
