BYD invests in semiconductor company JOYSINGTECH

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- JOYSINGTECH (full name is “Yangtze River Delta Eco-Green Integration Demonstration Zone (Zhejiang Jiashan) Joysing Semiconductor Equipment Technology Co., Ltd.”), a Chinese semiconductor facility manufacturer, recently underwent a business change, where two new shareholders, including BYD Company Limited, were introduced, according to the corporate information inquiry platform Tianyancha.

Established in April 2021, JOYSINGTECH features a registered capital of approximately 412 million yuan. Its business scope includes technology services, manufacturing of specialized equipment for semiconductor devices and electronics, photovoltaic equipment and relevant components, as well as display device, and more, according to information provided by Tianyancha.

Although JOYSINGTECH is relatively new, its strength should not be underestimated. According to the equity penetration chart, Shanghai Wanye Enterprises Co., Ltd. (“Shanghai Wanye”) holds 71.96% shares in JOYSINGTECH. Notably, Shanghai Wanye was supported by multiple banks such as Bank of Communications, China Construction Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and also endorsed by China Integrated Circuit Industry Investment Fund.

The new investment indicates that BYD is strengthening its industrial chain in auto intelligence. Compared to its leading position in new energy vehicle technology, the core components of BYD's intelligent connected system heavily rely on external suppliers and lack a prominent competitive edge. However, the competition in the new energy vehicle market also lies in intelligence, which is one of the key profit points for automotive companies in the future.

An Analyst from Gasgoo Auto Research Institute considered that BYD needs to enhance its deep deployment in autonomous driving technology, including SoC (system-on-chip) design, middleware technology mastery, advanced domain controllers, deep algorithms, and supercomputing center.
