Changan Automobile boasts 51.01% YoY spike in August sales

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. ("Changan Automobile") released its production and sales report for August, showcasing impressive growth figures. The company’s monthly vehicle sales reached 209,376 units, reflecting a robust 51.01% spike from a year ago.

Cumulatively for the first eight months of the year, Changan Automobile achieved total sales of 1,632,800 vehicles, translating to a 11.43% year-on-year growth. Notably, the company's self-owned brands have emerged as the driving force behind these impressive figures, contributing significantly to Changan's overall sales.

The year-to-date sales of Changan’s wholly-owned brands amounted to 1,360,596 vehicles, jumping 17.56%. year over year. Among which, 1,035,035 units were passenger vehicles, reflecting a 25.32% surge from the previous year. Changan's self-owned brands also made significant inroads in international markets, with overseas sales reaching 154,527 units, up 19.48% year on year.

In the context of the rapidly growing new energy vehicle segment, Changan's self-owned brands experienced substantial acceleration. In August alone, their new energy vehicle sales totaled around 40,122 units, marking an outstanding year-on-year soar of 123.55%. 

Furthermore, Changan's joint ventures, particularly Changan Mazda and Changan Ford, demonstrated varied performance. Changan Mazda recorded impressive growth in August with 7,856 units produced and 7,933 units sold, marking a year-on-year surge of 102.27% and 49.23%, respectively.

However, Changan Ford faced challenges as its August sales totaled 22,023 units, down 10.19% from a year ago, making it the only segment under Changan Automobile to experience negative growth.
