Changan Automobile breaks ground on manufacturing base in Thailand

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On November 8, Chinese automaker Changan Automobile held a groundbreaking ceremony for its Thailand manufacturing base in Rayong, Thailand.

The base is the first overseas production base of Changan Automobile, and it will be built with painting, general assembly, engine assembly, battery assembly production workshops and related supporting facilities. The first phase of the base features a designed production capacity of 100,000 vehicles/year, which is planned to be put into operation at the beginning of 2025. According to the company’s plan, the total production capacity of Changan Automobile's Thailand manufacturing base will be 200,000 vehicles/year after the second phase of the construction is put into operation.

Wang Hui, Vice President of Changan Automobile, said in his speech that the Thailand manufacturing base is not only the production base of Changan Automobile in Thailand, but also Changan Automobile's commitment to the mission of "leading automobile civilization and benefiting human life". Together with partners from all walks of life, Changan Automobile will strive to build Thailand into a regional electric vehicle center and contribute to the development of friendship between China and Thailand.

The official laying of the foundation stone of Changan Automobile's Thailand manufacturing base marks a new stage in Changan Automobile's globalization layout, and is also an important part of the automaker's implementation of its globalization strategy and deepening of its localization operation in Thailand. In the future, Changan Automobile will be firmly committed to providing Southeast Asian and global customers with excellent technological products and the ultimate service experience, making new and greater contributions to the integration of the global economy and the promotion of high-quality construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative.
