Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan to feature maximum battery-powered range of 800km

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On December 12, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the 72nd batch of the "Catalog of New Energy Vehicle Models Exempt from Vehicle Purchase Tax," featuring Xiaomi's first car, the SU7. Specifics regarding its pure-electric range, power battery specifications, and curb weight have been officially disclosed.

According to the information, the Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with two battery capacity options, namely, 73.6kWh and 101kWh. The vehicle’s battery-powered range stands at 628/668km and 750/800km, respectively. The curb weight is documented at 1,980kg and 2,205kg, with the power battery pack's total mass at 579kg and 645.8kg.

Combining the previously disclosed vehicle details by the MIIT, the SU7’s base model features a 73.6kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, likely sourced from BYD’s FinDreams Battery. It is powered by a single electric motor, reaching a peak power of 220kW, operating on a 400V platform. Its dimensions stand at 4,997mm long, 1,963mm wide, 1,455mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,000mm.

Meanwhile, the higher-end variant comes with a 101kWh ternary lithium battery, likely provided by CATL. It should come with a dual-electric motor setup, boasting a peak power of 495kW and an 800V platform. This version maintains the same length and width as the single-motor variant, but differs in height (1,440mm) due to its configuration.

Amid speculations about Xiaomi's production qualifications, the company has remained enigmatic about its automotive venture until now. However, the application filed at the MIIT revealed the manufacturing enterprise behind Xiaomi's car as BAIC Group Off-road Vehicle Co., Ltd., with the vehicle carrying the label "Beijing Xiaomi."
