XPeng responded, stating this decision aligns with their long-term strategy, aiming to intensify focus on future developments. For existing G3 owners, the company assures a 10-year maintenance commitment and continuous OTA software updates, underlining their dedication to customer support.
Initially unveiled at the CES 2018 and officially launched for deliveries on December 12 of the same year, the XPeng G3 marked XPeng's pioneering model.
Insiders cite the aging nature of the G3 line, diverging from XPeng's move towards the SEPA 2.0 architecture, as a primary reason. Sales data from 2021 highlights the significant disparity between the G3 (less than 20,000 units) and the robust performance of the P7 (over 60,000 units). The newer G6 and the impending G9 models have further diminished the G3's market presence.
On-ground surveys by Gasgoo noted the absence of G3i models at a bustling showroom in Beijing, replaced by a spotlight on the G6 and the G9. However, online, XPeng's official website still showcases and accepts orders for the G3i, suggesting a transitional phase to clear existing inventory before the anticipated cessation.
