GAC MOTOR, Warisan TC sign agreement for CKD project in Malaysia

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On March 30, the signing ceremony of the CKD (complete knock-down) project cooperation agreement between GAC MOTOR, the international business arm of GAC Group, and Warisan TC Holdings Berhad ("Warisan TC") took place at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

Warisan TC, a renowned publicly listed company in Malaysia, boasts a solid operational foundation and abundant development resources in the Southeast Asian region, particularly in the automotive CKD sector, where it has accumulated numerous successful operational experiences. GAC MOTOR has maintained a longstanding and fruitful partnership with Warisan TC.

Under the agreement, the two parties are set to engage in comprehensive collaboration guided by the principles of mutual benefit, shared growth, and synergistic coordination. Together, they aim to expedite the localization of GAC MOTOR's vehicles through CKD production. The pact extends beyond borders, with both parties actively exploring fresh market prospects and deepening their cooperation to penetrate the surrounding Southeast Asian markets, thereby enriching the automotive landscape for consumers in Malaysia and beyond.

As the first CKD project overseas, the Malaysian CKD project marks an important step for GAC in expanding into international markets. In May 2023, GAC MOTOR and Warisan TC jointly announced the initiation of the GAC MOTOR Malaysian CKD project, with the Trumpchi GS3 becoming the first locally assembled vehicle model. Currently, the CKD project has achieved important milestone results and entered the initial phase of volume assembly.

On the day of the signing, GAC MOTOR and Warisan TC held the CKD small-batch SOP (start of production) launch ceremony at the Segambut factory. GAC MOTOR's first CKD model in Malaysia is scheduled to enter the official SOP phase in late April.
