Chery Holding boasts 51% YoY spike in Jan.-May auto sales
Beijing (Gasgoo)- Chinese automaker Chery Holding sold 188,556 vehicles in May, marking a 35.5% year-on-year surge, according to the company’s announcement on June 1.

In the past month, Chery Holding’s new energy vehicle (NEV) sales reached 42,733 units, representing a staggering 279.3% spike from the previous year. From January to May, Chery sold a total of 900,209 vehicles, which leapt 51% year on year.
To date, Chery Holding's global user base has surpassed 14 million, with nearly 3.8 million overseas users. In the overseas markets, Chery showed explosive growth, selling 92,481 vehicles in May, which rose 20.4% from a year ago. From January to May, Chery’s export volume jumped 31% year on year to 435,124 units.
As to performance of the automaker’s major passenger car brands, the CHERY brand sold 117,939 vehicles in May, representing a 24% year-on-year increase. In the first five months of this year, CHERY sold 583,073 vehicles in total, which leapt 45.2% from the previous year.
The EXEED brand achieved sales of 9,467 vehicles in May, indicating a year-on-year growth of 24.4%. The brand’s year-to-date sales reached 41,195 units, up 27.2% from a year ago.
The JETOUR brand sold 36,743 vehicles in May, marking an 85.4% soar compared to the previous year. From January to May, the brand’s cumulative sales totaled 181,467 units, nearly doubling with a 99.9% year-on-year growth.
The iCAR brand, which launched its first product three months ago, recorded sales of 6,668 units in May.
