Beijing (Gasgoo)- On July 26, during the ChinaJoy 2024 convention, Liao Qinghong, COO of Geely-associated DreamSmart Group (previously known as Xingji Meizu), announced that the company's first car will be launched and delivered to consumers by the end of this year.

In November 2023, DreamSmart Group declared that it would initiate the DreamCar co-creation plan in the first quarter of 2024, aiming to create a bespoke MEIZU DreamCar MX vehicle model for Meizu smartphone users. This vehicle is touted as potentially the first mass-produced car with extensive user customization involvement.

Users can participate in customizing various aspects such as the vehicle's exterior paint, interior color scheme, and Flyme Auto themes. The car will be developed using Geely's design and manufacturing platform.

On May 13, a brief appearance of the Meizu MX model on the Meizu Flyme Auto website revealed that this car model would utilize the comprehensive Flyme Auto intelligent vehicle system.

Last year, DreamSmart launched the Flyme Auto Intelligent Open Platform to share Flyme Auto's core capabilities with ecosystem partners. This platform allows carmakers to flexibly integrate modular capabilities to enhance the smart cockpit experience according to their specific needs.

In a media briefing in June, DreamSmart’s Vice President Peng Fan announced that the Flyme Auto Intelligent Open Platform 2.0 would be launched by the end of this year. This platform enables automakers to quickly develop a smart cockpit OS with their unique brand style and make dynamic adjustments using an online editor and real-time preview function. Peng Fan also revealed that the Flyme Auto intelligent cockpit solution, co-developed with ECARX, is being promoted to more automotive brands, with several projects already in the pipeline.

As smartphone companies enter the automotive market in various forms—Huawei as a components supplier, Xiaomi as a car manufacturer—it remains to be seen whether DreamSmart, backed by Geely, can replicate Xiaomi's success in creating its own branded vehicles.
