GAC Group, Huawei step up strategic cooperation in ICV field

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC Group and Huawei Technologies Co.,Ltd. signed an agreement on September 29 to cement their strategic collaboration in intelligent vehicle field, according to a posting via GAC Group's WeChat account.

As far back as 2017, the Guangzhou-based automaker and the Chinese telecom giant entered into a partnership agreement to push ahead with the strategic cooperation on ICV (intelligent-connected vehicle)-related technologies, achieving the mass production and in-car application of ICV systems.

Under the newly-signed agreement, the cooperation cemented focus on the development of computing and communications architectures, greeting the development trend of SDV (Software Defined Vehicles). Leveraging the joint research of automobile intelligence, connectivity and electrification, both parties will co-develop digital platform available for incessant iteration and upgrades, so as to keep offering users better experience.

“GAC Group and Huawei have already established a stable partnership in such areas as digital transition and auto parts. With the faster development of auto electrification and intelligence, stepping up the cooperation in ICV and NEV fields accords with our development goals. Making good use of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's geographic advantages, we will make joint efforts to build an ICV technology industrial chain driven by innovation and high-quality products,” said Zeng Qinghong, chairman of GAC Group.

At this year’s Auto China 2020, Huawei once again attended as an independent exhibitor, showcasing its latest achievements in intelligent driving, smart cockpit, intelligent electrification, connectivity and automobile-related cloud service solutions.

On the eve of the grand motor show, Huawei launched the new-generation products of its MDC (Mobile Data Center) intelligent driving platform—the MDC 210 and the MDC610.

Li Zhenya, general manager of Huawei Smart Car Solution Business Unit's MDC product department, said that the MDC 210 and 610 can offer 48 and 160 TOPS of computing power respectively, and provide economical and practical computing resources for L2 plus and L3 to L4 autonomous driving, enabling smooth upgrade for computing platforms.
