Horizon Robotics partners with Trunk.Tech for autonomous truck commercialization

Beijing (Gasgoo)- China’s AI technology developer, Horizon Robotics, partnered up with autonomous truck service provider Trunk.Tech to accelerate mass production of automated commercial vehicles.

Building on Horizon’s Journey series auto-grade intelligent chips and Trunk.Tech’s L4 commercial vehicle domain controller R&D capabilities, the partners will co-develop a new mass-producible autonomous driving solution, underpinning a solid software/hardware platform for smart commercial vehicles.

Aside from pushing mass production, the two companies also aim to expand the intelligent logistics market, establish strategic collaborations with commercial vehicle manufacturers and other resources, creating an ecosystem for the intelligent freight industry.  

Trunk.Tech’s self-developed Trunk Master autonomous driving software/hardware system allows perception, localization, and intelligent control abilities on commercial vehicles. The said system uses a multi-sensor integrated solution and deep learning algorithm for high-level automated driving functions. 

As the brain of vehicle intelligence, chips are of great importance. Horizon’s high-performance Journey series auto-grade chips helped drive the industry forward. By this September, Horizon Robotics managed a cumulative shipment volume of over 500,000 pieces of the said chips. Moreover, the company claimed that Journey 2 and Journey 3 had been deployed by 11 vehicle models.

As of now, Trunk.Tech has successfully realized commercialization with over a hundred autonomous trucks in several intellectualized ports in China, such as Tianjin and Ningbo Zhoushan, as well as various trunkline expressways.

Both companies hold great anticipations towards the future of the intelligent freight industry.
