The two companies will explore the potential application scenarios of Hesai’s high-performance LiDAR solutions, namely driverless taxis, unmanned buses, and crewless logistics. Based on each other’s advantages in the respective autonomous driving and LiDAR technology fields, the partners aim to further the commercialization of all-scenario autonomous driving.

Founded in 2016, UISEE has become one of the leading companies in autonomous driving technology commercialization and is the proposer of the “full-scenario autonomous driving” strategy.

At the beginning of this year, the company landed RMB1 billion ($157.62 million) of investment from China’s National Manufacturing Transformation and Upgrade Fund. The company was also involved in multiple national technology projects, as a key technology company appointed by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

UISEE’s self-developed U-Drive full-stack autonomous driving technology has been implemented into numerous aspects, including vehicle manufacturing, heavy chemical industry, airports, industrial parks, and food processing. By the end of November, UISEE has become the first autonomous driving company that achieves over 1 million kilometers of driverless commercial operation mileage worldwide.

In addition, in March this year, UISEE launched an autonomous driving pilot project with Dongfeng Motor, offering robotaxi test ride service for Wuhan citizens. The Dongfeng Fengshen (Aeolus) E70 robotaxi co-developed by UISEE and Dongfeng Motor Corporation are equipped with Hesai Pandar LiDARs.

As of now, the service has opened up over 100 stations covering 300 kilometers of roads.
