The joint venture is projected to be established and start operation at the beginning of 2022. In the early stages of the cooperation, the two parties will invest RMB100 million in the joint venture together. The partners aim to deploy an intelligent driving heavy-duty truck fleet consisting of over 100 vehicles initially and gradually expand larger.
Pony.ai and Sinotrans shared a vision of creating a leading fleet in the country, providing safe and efficient transport service and freight solutions at a low cost.
In fact, in June this year, Pony.ai and Sinotrans have initiated a long-distance pilot test project for autonomous driving trucks to test out the potential of autonomous driving technologies and intelligent logistics systems. The collaboration has set a solid foundation for their relationship.
According to the autonomous driving developer, PonyTron’s business has been branching out rapidly. The truck arm has successively obtained autonomous driving tuck license and freight roads operation permission from Guangdong Province, the first batch of autonomous driving truck testing plates and highway road test permits from Beijing authorities, and has started commercial operations.
By the end of November, the company has accumulated over 50,000 kilometers of commercial operation mileages, transporting over 16,400 tons of cargo.
