BlackBerry QNX, China’s Black Sesame Technologies to build autonomous driving platform

Beijing (Gasgoo)- China's chip supplier Black Sesame Technologies announced that it had joined hands with BlackBerry QNX to build an open autonomous driving platform.

Per the cooperation agreement, building on Black Sesame's Huashan 2 A1000 autonomous driving computing chip and BlackBerry's ISO 26262 ASIL-D certified real-time operation system (RTOS), the two parties will co-develop a reliable, efficient, and open autonomous driving platform.

The partners share a vision of providing automakers and Tier1 suppliers with innovative solutions with high portability. Currently, Black Sesame and BlackBerry have jointly landed several projects from automakers, with a goal of starting mass production in 2022.

As one of the leading automotive software suppliers, BlackBerry QNX supports numerous automakers regarding their critical systems. The company has served over 500 million terminals, including 195 million automobiles.

On the other hand, as a Tier2 supplier, Black Sesame has launched its first mass-producible auto-grade safety-approved single-chip domain controller, Huashan 2 A1000, allowing L2-L4 autonomous driving functions.

Black Sesame's high-performance auto-grade autonomous driving computing chip can further enhance BlackBerry QNX's system in real-time and network security aspects. The company will also help BlackBerry QNX in regards to localization, serving the Chinese auto market better, said the CMO of Black Sesame, Yang Yuxin.
