Geely-bakced ECARX to build smart onboard service with Alipay

Beijing (Gasgoo)- The Geely-backed automotive intelligence company ECARX partnered with China’s online payment mogul, Alipay, for onboard interactive services.

The two companies will deeply cooperate in intelligent and connected vehicle services, shattering the bounds between automotive cockpit and smartphones. The partners aim to make the mobility experience smarter, more diverse, and more convenient.

At the signing ceremony, Alipay launched its new dual network service product for intelligent car OS and smartphones, dedicated to the automotive industry. The product is based on Alipay’s mini-application engine. After integrating with the corresponding engine framework, intelligent cockpits can cut in the Alipay ecosystem, realizing cross-terminal services through a unified Alipay account.   

Building on ECARX’s mass production experience for millions of intelligent cockpits, the partners will construct services that pass national automotive data security regulations across the two main smart terminals in everyday life. ECARX and Alipay will introduce 10,000+ mini-applications with 30 exclusive core services, covering 24 categories, including ride-sharing, entertainment, travelling, and dining.

Moreover, the partners also plan to explore smart service notification functions. By matching with ECARX’s technical scenario engine, the intelligent cockpit system is able to provide users with scenario-designated service or push smart notifications for ongoing Alipay services.

Notably, the two parties disclosed that the first vehicle model implemented with their service would be on the market in 2022.
