According to Pony.ai, the company is authorized to provide driverless Robotaxi service (with safety monitor in passenger seat) in a 60 square kilometers area of Beijing’s E-Town. Users can hail a Pony.ai Robotaxi without drivers via the PonyPilot+ mobile application. Passengers will get an exclusive notification through their App stating that the vehicle they reserved will be a driverless model. During the trip, passengers are able to reach out to Pony.ai’s customer services via the App for any sudden situations and demands.

The driverless Robotaxi pilot demonstration represents the determination of BJHAD in the autonomous driving field. The test area has expanded from 20 square kilometers to 60 square kilometers, including more complex road scenarios to the range.

Currently, Pony.ai is permitted to operate driverless autonomous driving tests in Beijing and Guangzhou. The company’s driverless Robotaxis have completed roughly a thousand service orders in Guangzhou, helping the company collect user feedbacks.

By April 2022, Pony.ai has accumulated 200,000 kilometers of safe driverless road test mileages, helping the company iterate its technology and advance its management mechanism.
