Under its goal of building a “digital vehicle valley”, WHDZ has been actively laying out in the digital, intelligent, and connected vehicle field. Since 2021, WHDZ has opened up an accumulative 321km of intelligent connected vehicle test roads. The area also holds China’s first and largest 5G-connected C-V2X open testing roads of 106km, offering the most enriched scenarios nationwide.

The infrastructures laid up a solid foundation for Apollo Go to branch out to Wuhan. In the preliminary stages, Baidu will deploy a Robotaxi fleet of ten Apollo Moon-enabled ARCFOX vehicles. Local users can hail a ride via the Apollo Go mobile application within the operational area from 9:00 to 17:00.

The service will be available on 166km of roads within the 30 square kilometers of authorized zone, consisting of 63 stops in the commercial area, residential area, and industrial parks. Baidu plans to gradually expand its operational routes, stops, and elongate business hours to serve more people.
