Arm China, Horizon Robotics deepen relationship for intelligent vehicle development

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Arm China announced that it would deepen the partnership with China’s leading AI chip developer, Horizon Robotics, for intelligent vehicle technology advancement.

Combining Arm China’s high-performance computing platform that has big computing power and Arm IP technology with Horizon Robotics’ autonomous driving algorithm and automotive chips, the duo will cooperate in various areas, including high-performance autonomous driving chips, and the intelligent vehicle ecosystem. 

Automotive intelligent chips have higher and higher requirement for computing power. Arm China’s self-developed computing platform is able to integrate NPU, SPU, ISP, and VPU computing elements together to meet with the industry’s common demand for computing power, algorithm, and security. The company’s Arm IP technology and the said platform helps domestic auto-grade chip suppliers achieve better performance results in AI, image processing, information security, and building intelligent driving platform. 

On the other hand, as the first company in China to introduce auto-grade AI chips and realized pre-assembly mass production, Horizon Robotics has shipped over one million chips, which were broadly applied to numerous mainstream vehicle models. 

Since 2019, Horizon Robotics maintained a schedule of launching one new product per year. Its latest Journey 5 automotive chip holds 128TOPS of AI computing power, and is deemed China’s first automotive AI chip developed in compliance with the ISO 26262 function security flow. The chip will be deployed onto multiple flagship models from BYD, FAW Hongqi, and NEV startup NIUTRON.
