Beijing (Gasgoo)- On May 23rd, China’s new energy vehicle startup WM Motor introduced its public automated valet parking (PAVP) technology, which will be first deployed onto the W6 model via OTA update soon.

PAVP is the valet parking technology that allows autonomous parking in public parking lots. With the help from the vehicle’s sensors, high-precision maps of the parking infrastructure, location identifications, and over the cloud control, users can remotely summon the car and park the car via a mobile application.
The PAVP technology does not require preparations to park in compatible parking lots. When the vehicle approaches unfamiliar parking lots, the onboard PC will automatically download route information in milliseconds, allowing automated valet parking on site without the need to learn first.
The cloud-based parking route is not limited by distance. The technology works even if the vehicle is kilometers away from the selected parking spot, thanks to PAVP’s customizable route calculations.
Aside from the basic information collecting capability on vehicles, parking infrastructures also play an assistant role to realize PAVP. According to WM Motor, parking lot modifications are easy to facilitate. The only requirement of the parking lot is a small number of painted signs, which can be simple and cost-efficient.
Notably, after the PAVP OTA update, WM Motor’s W6 model will be the first intelligent electric vehicle in the industry to realize frequent fixed-spot parking, and infrequent public-spot parking solutions.
