SGMW and DJI announced their strategic partnership at the Auto Shanghai 2021. In fact, the two companies have been working on automotive intelligence and mobility since 2019. In the past years, both parties have jointly invested several billion yuan into the project and recruited numerous top-notch talents in the intelligent driving field worldwide to form a strong R&D team.

Incorporating China’s complex traffic conditions, the partners have accumulated over 1 million kilometers of successful intelligent driving road test distance.

Both companies have been actively laying out the intelligent driving field. Up to now, SGMW has established an automotive intelligence R&D team of over 4,000 employees, 109 of whom hold doctorate degrees. The team successfully built the world's first open test road with 5G connectivity, V2X, remote driving control, and autonomous driving capabilities. SGMW also stepped into the unmanned logistics field in 2019.

On the other hand, as a 16-year-old company, DJI’s advantages and accumulation in R&D of intelligent system software and hardware, and the vertical integration capability in the supply chain laid out a solid foundation for its automotive unit.
