XPeng partners with Baidu’s Xiaodu for onboard intelligent speech experience

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Baidu's intelligent speech arm, Xiaodu Technology, formed a partnership with China’s new energy vehicle startup XPeng for an optimized onboard experience.

As one of the leading smart car makers, XPeng will leverage its advantages in automotive intelligence, while Xiaodu offers its technology and resources in the intelligent speech field to the cooperation. 

Xiaodu Technology’s DuerOS operating system provides encyclopedia-like Q&A service that covers a slew of territories, including but not limited to stock market, calendar, translation, people, geography, history, sports, and movies. The voice assistant has widely applied to many scenarios, including home appliances. 

The duo’s cooperative new functions will be deployed onto some of the future XPeng models. 

Actually, XPeng has adopted voice control onboard OS since 2020. Its intelligent voice assistant “Xiao P” features continuous conversation function, semantic interruption function, and highly accurate voice control function. In 2021, the automaker launched a new AI voice for Xiao P, which adopts a ultra-large scale online neuro network engine and a small offline joint engine combination, offering a more realistic voice interaction. 

Notably, earlier in May, Xiaodu Technology has formed a partnership with another Chinese new energy vehicle startup, NIO.
