Petal Mobility is described as HUAWEI’s latest ride-hailing platform which integrates various Chinese online ride-sharing service suppliers, offering quality, safe, comfortable, and convenient ride-hailing service to the public. The service is currently available in Beijing, Shenzhen, and Nanjing. HUAWEI said that the service coverage is still expanding.
According to Petal Mobility, the service is backed by HUAWEI’s proprietary Petal Maps, the map and navigation mobile application for users overseas. In December last year, HUAWEI introduced the automotive-adapted version of Petal Maps, and has the application installed on the AITO M5 model, the new energy vehicle model jointly developed by HUAWEI and SERES. AITO said that the onboard Petal Maps would provide smart navigation experience for HarmonyOS smart cockpit users.
Notably, according to China’s corporate database, Qichacha, HUAWEI has filed for dozens of “PETAL”-related trademarks as early as April 2020. The trademarks cover multiple categories, including transportation and storage, communication services, and science equipment. Some of the trademarks have completed registration.
