Baidu, Geely-backed JIDU to co-launch ROBO-01 limited edition with CLEP
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- JIDU, the intelligent EV company jointly founded by Baidu and Geely, on Sept. 7 announced the cooperation with China Lunar Exploration Program ("CLEP") to jointly launch a lunar exploration-themed cooperative production model— "ROBO-01 Lunar Edition", which will be launched next month.
Meanwhile, JIDU said it will team up with CLEP in such areas as AI, human-machine interaction, and other cutting-edge technologies.
JIDU unveiled its first concept production robocar ROBO-01 in June this year. Highlights of the ROBO-01 include an active deformable structure design, 3D borderless one-piece large screen, zero-gravity seating, and AI pixel lights. Moreover, the smart driving system is equipped with NVIDIA's "dual" Orin X chips, and 31 external sensors, including 2 LiDAR, 5 millimeter-level wave radar, 12 ultrasonic radar and 12 cameras. The model also uses the 4th-generation Snapdragon Automotive Cockpit Platform - 8295 chip.

The aforementioned "Lunar Exploration Limited Edition" will be ROBO-01 mass-produced model's first launch with a limited volume of 1,000 units.
JIDU plans to officially start delivering the limited version of its first production model in the second half of 2023, which will be 90% similar to the ROBO-01 concept car. In addition, it will also unveil the design of its second production model at the Auto Guangzhou 2022 in November.
As for sales and service network development, JIDU's first brand experience center will open business this year in Shanghai. The robocar maker plans to deploy its sales network in 46 Chinese cities with 100 stores to be launched in 2023.
