The trial operation route starts from Changzhou Taihu Bay toll station and ends at Wuxi Nanquan toll station. The route measures 33 kilometers long and passes through the Taihu Tunnel, the longest and widest smart under-lake tunnel in China, which is 10.7 kilometers long. It marks that Plus has successfully extended the application scenario of autonomous driving technology from expressways to toll stations.
During the trial operation, the intelligent heavy-duty trucks equipped with the PlusDrive autonomous driving system were exposed to real and open traffic flow under different light and weather conditions. The vehicles successfully performed various tasks brought by the complex road conditions with a maximum speed of 90 km/h.
In addition, this trial operation also marked the first collaborative autonomous driving trial operation of open traffic flow in a long tunnel jointly completed by Plus and its partners. During the process, the autonomous fleet kept smooth communication with roadside, successfully passed the fire warning, accident warning, congestion warning, lane control warning, lane induction, fog warning, and speed limit warning function tests.
