Shenzhen breaks ground on 5G-enabled intelligent connected transportation test base

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Phase II of Shenzhen Pingshan District’s Shenzhen Intelligent Connected Transportation Test Platform Plan construction has broken ground, the local Pingshan authorities announced on September 20.

The main area construction of the project will be completed and put into operation in 2023. Upon completion of the project, Shenzhen will house the world’s first three-dimensional furturistic urban transportation system and 5G-enabled intelligent connected transportation test base. 

As a major industrial platform in the city, Shenzhen Intelligent Connected Transportation Test and Demonstration Platform (hereinafter referred to as "demonstration platform") settled in Pingshan District in 2019. The construction of this project is divided into two stages. In the first stage, the temporary closed test area on Jinlian Road is built as the start-up area of the demonstration platform. The second stage involves the construction of the main areas of the demonstration platform, including the closed test area, semi-open test area, and open test area.

Up to now, the Jinlian Road temporary closed test area has been put into operation, which mainly serves enterprises with functional validation and testing before road tests that meets the requirements of autonomous vehicles' complete-vehicle testing, and supports them in testing of product R&D and public road validation. Official data showed that a total of 277 test vehicles from 24 autonomous driving related enterprises have been served by the platform, summing up to a cumulative test distance of 60,128 kilometers.
