Comparing to the previous version published in 2021, the new Rules expanded the permitted range of road test, demonstration application, and pilot operation of intelligent connected vehicle with drivers onboard to the entire city. This also means that Wuxi has become China’s first city to allow such tests and demonstrations across the whole city.
The new Rules made clear of the required criteria of entities, drivers, and vehicles wish to conduct road test and demonstrations in the city, which are categorized into two patterns, with driver or without driver onboard.
Intelligent connected vehicles with drivers onboard can choose their test and demonstration location within the whole area of Wuxi city, while those without drivers onboard are permitted to conduct such activities in three selected areas in the city. Notably, the designated testing areas for vehicles without drivers are covered with C-V2X roadside facilities.
