Horizon Robotics nabs strategic investment from Chery Holding

Beijing (Gasgoo)- China’s edge AI chip supplier Horizon Robotics announced on September 26 the completion of strategic investment and settlement by Chery Holding.

The proceeds will be used on Horizon Robotics’ automotive intelligent chip R&D and iteration, as well as mass production and application. Meanwhile, Chery Holding and Horizon Robotics announced that they are carrying out their cooperation from the current onboard intelligent interaction field to the advanced assistance driving territory as well. 

According to the plan, Chery Holding's new high-end intelligent electric platform, the E0X, will adopt the Journey 3 chip as the computing cornerstone. At least five intelligent vehicle models with L2+ and above intelligent driving capabilities are planned for the platform, with the first model, the Chery E03, due to launch in 2023. The Chery E03 will be enabled with high-speed and urban NOP assisted driving functions. In addition, a collaborative model with Journey 2 chip-powered ADAS functions will be launched in 2022.

Chery Holding and Horizon Robotics first reached comprehensive strategic cooperation in 2021. In 2022, building on Horizon Robotics’ Journey 3 chips, the duo rolled out several new vehicle models installed with all-scenarios multimode interaction scheme and leading smart cockpit, such as the Tiggo 8 PRO and the OMODA 5.
