Baidu Apollo, China Huaneng jointly lead issuance of first smart autonomous mining vehicle standard
Beijing (Gasgoo)- Baidu announced the issuance of the group standards of intelligent mine mining vehicle autonomous driving system, which was drafted under the guidance of China ITS Industry Alliance, and led by Baidu Apollo and China Huaneng Yimin Coal Electricity Corp.

Other parties who contributed to the draft include CAICT, Dongfeng Trucks, China’s Southeast University, and others.
As the industry's first collaborative operating system standard for autonomous mining vehicles, the standards will help local autonomous driving enterprises improve product technical capabilities and safety levels, enhance the connectivity across the industry, and provide a solid foundation for accelerating the commercialization of high-level autonomous driving technology into diversified scenarios.
The standard is divided into five sections, each with specific criteria for overall technical capabilities, vehicle technologies, cloud-control platform requirements, information interaction demands, as well as the test methods and requirements for vehicles and cloud control platforms.
According to the standard, a regulatory intelligent mining vehicle autonomous driving cooperative operation system should be composed of three parts, namely, cloud control platform, terminal equipment, and mining-use autonomous driving system. A compliant mining vehicle should hold C-V2X capabilities to exchange information with roadside equipment.
The standard is built on top of a large number of field tests, so that it can effectively guide unmanned transportation operations for mining vehicles, and help improve the safety and efficiency of mine operations.
