Black Sesame Technologies receives investment from Dongfeng Motor

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Black Sesame Technologies, a Chinese autonomous driving computing chips supplier, announced on December 14 that it received a strategic investment from Dongfeng Motor’s Dongfeng Asset Management.

At the same time, the company also struck a deal with Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Company, to supply its chip products to the automaker’s first pure-electric sedan and first pure-electric SUV models.

The deal specifies that, building on Black Sesame Technologies’ Huashan II ®A1000 series autonomous driving chips, Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Company will develop an integrated driving/parking intelligent driving domain controller platform. The computing power of the domain controller platform will reach up to 58TOPS, which can fully meet the functional requirements of L2 and L2+ autonomous driving capabilities, including highway assisted driving, memory parking, etc. The collaborative platform can be expected for mass production in 2023.

This is not the first cooperation project between Black Sesame Technologies and Dongfeng Motor. In 2021, the chip supplier has reached a comprehensive strategic cooperation with Dongfeng Motor Corporation Technical Center and Dongfeng Sharing, forming a close partnership from joint development of cutting-edge technologies to mass production and scale applications. The trio plans to co-promote the commercialization of autonomous driving technologies. 

Additionally, the latest strategic investment by Dongfeng Asset Management will also further strengthen the breadth and depth of the cooperation between Dongfeng Motor and Black Sesame Technologies, contributing to the chip developer’s product R&D, iteration, and technology commercialization.
