JAC Group, Shine Auto to set up joint venture for autonomous driving trucks

Beijing (Gasgoo)- JAC Group inked an agreement with Anhui-based autonomous driving firm, Shine Auto, on December 16 to set up a joint venture for high-level autonomous driving technologies.

The agreement specifies that the two parties will integrate their technological advantages and resources, and plays an important role in facilitating the transformation and upgrading of JAC Group. In addition, the duo will help promote the intelligent connected vehicle transformation, and contribute to the construction of smart city and intelligent transportation in Hefei, the provincial capital of Anhui.

At the same time, through equity strategic investment, JAC Group and Shine Auto’s jointly invested smart truck project, Xingchi Zhika (in Chinese pinyin), was officially inaugurated. The project will rely on the technology accumulation and resource advantages of JAC Group and Shine Auto in vehicle manufacturing, autonomous driving, and other fields, to create commercial vehicle autonomous driving application solutions for designated scenarios.

As one of the traditional automakers in China, JAC Group has been actively laying out in the intelligent connected vehicle field. Currently, the automaker’s all vehicle models on the market have realized L2 assisted driving capabilities. After four generations of iterative R&D, the group’s high-level autonomous driving solution has been implemented onto passenger cars and commercial vehicles, in closed parks and on open roads. JAC Group has obtained the first batch of open road test licenses in Hefei, and carried out regular demonstration operation.
