Horizon Robotics, Dongfeng Nissan's Venucia to build intelligent driving platform

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On December 30, Horizon Robotics and major Sino-Japanese automaker, Dongfeng Nissan’s Venucia brand reached cooperation regarding intelligent driving projects.

The cooperation specifies that the new intelligent driving platform of Venucia will be equipped with Horizon Robotics’ Journey 3 chip and the Horizon Matrix® Mono 3 (Mono 3) monocular visual perception scheme to achieve high-level assisted driving functions. The platform will be firstly implemented onto several new energy vehicle models under the Venucia brand, with the first cooperative model coming to light in 2023.

As one of Dongfeng Nissan’s three brands, Venucia undertakes the mission to implement the joint venture’s intelligent, electric, and younger-generation oriented development strategies. Leveraging its industrial chain resources and Horizon Robotics’ scale production experience and technologies, the duo will be able to develop differentiated products for various vehicle models. 

The Journey 3 chip is a new-generation high-performance intelligent automotive chip launched by Horizon Robotics for high-level assisted driving scenarios. It is based on the company’s proprietary BPU 2.0 architecture design, offering a maximum computing power of 5TOPS and a typical power consumption of 2.5W. 

At the same time, the intelligent driving platform adopts Horizon Robotics’ Mono 3 monocular vision perception scheme based on the Journey 3 chip. The Mono 3 uses an 8MP front view camera, which can effectively support ADAS functions of medium/high-end vehicle models. In addition to a wider range of more accurate perception, pairing with high-precision map and visual positioning, the Mono 3 can achieve NOA function.
