At the same time, Dongfeng Sharing also joined hands with 11 units such as Tsinghua University, and Wuhan University of Technology to established a project innovation consortium for "key technologies of intelligent connected C-V2X computing platform". The project mainly develops a multi-source heterogeneous AI computing platform with large computing power and high safety that makes breakthroughs in the autonomous driving algorithm and closed-loop training technology under the cooperation of vehicle-road-cloud, and forms a complete intelligent connected C-V2X testing system.
According to Dongfeng Sharing, it will launch over 100 Sharing BUS and Sharing TAXI autonomous vehicles for the project, realizing a totaled operation area of more than 200km in Wuhan and Xiongan New Area.
Dongfeng Motor's first full-stack self-developed intelligent connected bus has recently obtained the road test license, and will carry out unmanned commercial operation under Dongfeng Sharing. Previously, Dongfeng Sharing has already been conducting autonomous road tests and pilot shuttle service operations in the Wuhan Economic and Development Zone. Up to now, Dongfeng Sharing holds 10 regular all-day operation routes in Wuhan, offering shuttle services between 47 stations among 54.2km of distance. The company has deployed over 42 vehicles in the pilot operation, accumulating a total operating mileage of 336,000km and offering more than 55,000 rides.
Dongfeng Sharing plans to expand its service routes to over 20 with more than 300 vehicles running in Wuhan. In the future, the company will also promote the commercial operation of driverless vehicles in more scenarios and expand its operation routes based on the three existing forms of public transport (subway, tram, and bus) in Wuhan’s Economic and Development Zone.
