Chinese chip maker Fortsense nabs financing from Chery Holding’s fund

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Shenzhen-based chip supplier Fortsense announced that it has recently received strategic investments from Chery Holding-affiliated Ruicheng Fund and a Suzhou municipal fund dedicated to intelligent connected vehicle field.

Notably, Fortsense announced the completion of its Series C financing which raised for the company several hundred million yuan in December 2022. The round was led by Chengdu Science and Technology Venture Capital, and participated by BAIC Capital, Hui Capital, Shenzhen Jiufite Private Equity Investment, and others. 

Founded in 2017, Fortsense focuses on the R&D of machine vision products, and has formed three product lines, namely, LiDAR SPDA, 3D vision, and under-screen optics. Notably, the company’s SPAD technology is one of the key elements for reducing the cost of LiDAR. 

Fortsense started the R&D of LiDAR SPAD chips in 2019, and successfully saw the chips complete tape out process in 2021. Then, the chips obtained the automotive-grade certification in 2022, and finally delivered to clients via mass production.

As one of the few companies in the world that fully masters the key technology of SPAD chips, Fortsense has a team that possesses the ability to design chips, provide software and hardware support, and develop core algorithms for product output.

Fortsense believes that 3D vision will become the mainstream technology route in the future. The company has already launched R&D of cutting-edge chip technology for the next three years, comprehensively preparing for the tape out of SPAD chips for single-point, single-line, multi-line, and array applications. The company has already produced products for different application scenarios in overseas and domestic wafer foundries.
