Baidu Apollo Go’s fully driverless Robotaxi fleet grows to 100 vehicles in Wuhan

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On February 28, Baidu's autonomous driving ride-hailing service (Robotaxi) platform "Apollo Go" announced that its fully unmanned Robotaxi fleet in Wuhan has exceeded 100 vehicles.

According to Baidu, the fleet can now operate on over 750 kilometers of roads, covering 530 square kilometers of Wuhan city, and is able to provide fully self-driving mobility services for nearly 1.5 million people in the operating area. 

Citing from Baidu's recently released 2022 financial report, as of the end of January 2023, the cumulative order volume of Apollo Go has exceeded 2 million orders, making it the world's largest Robotaxi service provider.

With 100 unmanned cars in operation, the number of fully autonomous ride-hailing orders in Wuhan has also seen explosive growth, with a single-day peak of over 20 orders, said Baidu. At the same time, users are highly satisfied with the driverless Robotaix service, as data shows that the user satisfaction rate of the Apollo Go mobile application reaches 4.9 out of 5 points.

On the other hand, Wuhan, as one of the six major auto industry clusters in China, has been actively promoting the development of industrial clustering, enriching the demonstration of scenario applications, and enhancing the comprehensive competitiveness of the new energy and intelligent connected vehicle industry. 

Within six months, Baidu Apollo achieved a three-step leap in its driverless operation service in Wuhan. In August 2022, Apollo Go kicked off China's first fully unmanned commercialized Robotaxi service in the city. Last December, Apollo Go saw its operational coverage massively expanded in terms of service area and hours.
