With the license, FAW Group’s Hongqi L4 Robotaxi simultaneously launched autonomous driving road test in Beijing.
Beijing, as the first region in the country to conduct autonomous driving road tests, released policies supporting the testing of autonomous driving vehicles and accompanying technical evaluation standards. The set of standards is the first in the world to use the complexity of traffic scenarios to divide the SAE's L3 and above autonomous driving capability levels, and it has been selected as one of the one hundred group standard application demonstration projects by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, which means that the Beijing-set standards will be promoted and applied nationwide.
The second-generation Hongqi L4 Robotaxi, which was entirely self-developed by FAW (Nanjing) Technology Development Co. Ltd., is a brand-new generation of autonomous driving vehicles built on mass-produced sensors.
Up to now, Hongqi has launched autonomous driving road tests in three cities, including Beijing, Nanjing of Jiangsu Province, and Changchun of Jilin Province, covering typical urban roads such as elevated roads, commercial areas, residential areas, and construction sections. The road tests have been conducted under complex road conditions and rich scenarios, with a total test distance exceeding 150,000 kilometers and over 200 intelligent driving patents obtained.
