Baidu greenlighted for fully-unmanned Robotaxi pilot service in Beijing

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Today, Baidu's Apollo Go autonomous driving ride-hailing service (Robotaxi) received approval to conduct fully unmanned Robotaxi demonstration operation in Beijing.

Up to now, Apollo Go has been permitted to provide driverless Robotaxi services in three Chinese cities, namely, Beijing, Wuhan, and Chongqing.

Apollo Go plans to deploy a total of 10 fully unmanned Robotaxis in a designated area of 60 square kilometers within the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone (Yizhuang) for demonstration applications.

Notably, Yizhuang has become one of the areas with the highest user loyalty for Apollo Go’s service. The area posts a daily average of more than 20 orders per vehicle, surpassing that of the traditional ride-hailing services in the area. Meanwhile, users are highly satisfied with the service of traveling by fully unmanned autonomous driving cars, as the Apollo Go App’s user satisfaction rating reaches 4.9 out of 5 points, of which 94.19% are five-star ratings, said Baidu.

Baidu Apollo's L4 autonomous driving operating test distance has exceeded 50 million kilometers, with more than 4,600 patents in its portfolio, including the world's largest number of high-level autonomous driving patents. In 2023, Baidu Apollo will continue to expand its business scale, aiming to build the world's largest unmanned driving operating service area.
