Pony.ai to ante up on passenger car intelligent driving business

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Pony.ai, the Chinese autonomous driving startup, unveiled its technology commercialization plan at its annual technology sharing event on April 13, which focuses on three main areas, namely mass production of intelligent driving technology, commercial operation of autonomous driving transportation services, and development of a smart logistics ecosystem.

According to Pony.ai's Co-founder and CEO, Peng Jun, the next three years will be a crucial period for the company's commercialization. Pony.ai has set clear strategic goals for its three main business lines, Robotaxi, Robotruck, and Personally Owned Vehicles (POV) with intelligent driving capabilities. The company plans to implement autonomous driving technology in commercial applications to create various use cases for these business lines.

Pony.ai's CFO and Head of Commercialization, Wang Haojun, revealed that the company has made significant progress in all three business lines. In terms of POV, the company will launch multiple assisted driving solutions, domain controllers, and toolchain products to expand its cooperation projects with automakers. For Robotaxi, Pony.ai will roll out fully unmanned mobility services in Beijing and Guangzhou, with the fleet size expected to grow from hundreds to thousands units of vehicles. Meanwhile, leveraging its joint venture, Pony.ai will broaden its Robotruck service scale in the smart logistics field and accelerate the mass production and delivery of intelligent heavy trucks.

On the other hand, Pony.ai plans to kick off mass production of assisted driving solutions for highways and urban scenarios, deliver NVIDIA DRIVE Orin-powered domain controllers to multiple clients, and initiate domain controller R&D based on multi-chip platforms. Additionally, the company will deliver full-link data closed-loop toolchain to designated automakers and launch flexible toolchain products.
