SENIOR to help build China’s first fully automated mixed cargo terminal at Qingdao Port

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Chinese pan-port autonomous driving solution provider SENIOR recently secured the contract for the construction of an autonomous pulp flatbed transportation project for Shandong Port Technology Group's Qingdao Company Limited. 

The project is set to revolutionize cargo transportation at Qingdao Port’s Western Union Company Terminal, introducing unmanned horizontal transport of pulp bundle packages. SENIOR's Intelligent Mobile Vehicle (IMV) will seamlessly integrate with existing automated processes and equipment, paving the way for the nation's first fully automated mixed cargo terminal.

SENIOR’s IMV is equipped with versatile functionalities, including bidirectional movement, diagonal movement, along with comprehensive Chassis-by-Wire, perception systems, communication systems, and autonomous control features. These vehicles are capable of autonomously navigating internal roadways in all weather conditions, autonomously planning dynamic paths, recognizing and avoiding obstacles, identifying and responding to road markings and signage. This enables them to independently handle pulp bundle package transportation tasks, coordinating with equipment such as cranes, container handlers, bridge cranes, and stackers during loading and unloading processes both indoors and outdoors.

Throughout the project's development, SENIOR's IMV eliminates the need for dedicated operation zones and additional infrastructure, ensuring high-reliability transportation operations in mixed traffic environments.

With a maximum payload capacity of 65 tonnes, the IMV can accommodate up to 32 pulp bundle packages (each weighing approximately 2 tonnes), efficiently handling the frequent impacts associated with loading pulp bundle packages during autonomous horizontal transportation.
