DEEPAL receives highway/expressway autonomous driving vehicle testing license in Chongqing

Beijing (Gasgoo)- DEEPAL, Changan Automobile's new energy vehicle brand, announced on Thursday it successfully obtained in November 2023 an autonomous driving test permit for highways and expressways in Chongqing.

The road tests have commenced for the DEEPAL SL03, featuring Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities.

DEEPAL emphasizes that the Level 3 autonomous driving functions are solely integrated into test vehicles and do not reflect commitments to the models on the market.

The testing location in Chongqing presents a uniquely challenging environment known for its intricate terrain—mountains, slopes, winding roads, and various complex conditions such as construction zones, long slopes, bridges, tunnels, and merging ramps, alongside narrow roads and dense traffic.

Amidst these rigorous tests, the L3 autonomous driving-enabled DEEPAL SL03 impressively maintains safe and stable operations. Equipped with DEEPAL’s proprietary technology, the vehicle boasts a traffic congestion autonomous driving system employing multi-sensor fusion. It enables such functions as single-lane traffic jam autonomous driving, automatic lane-keeping and following, autonomous tracking of preceding vehicles, adaptive cruise control, and driver status monitoring to ensure readiness for manual takeover.

Both DEEPAL's S7i and SL03i intelligent driving models, featuring DEEPAL AD advanced driver assistance systems, entered mass production and market availability in November this year.
