SERES secures L3 autonomous vehicle road test licenses in Chongqing, Shenzhen

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On December 29, Huawei’s automaking partner SERES announced that it has secured L3 autonomous vehicle test licenses in both Chongqing and Shenzhen cities.

Prior to this, several automakers, including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, IM Motors, ARCFOX, Changan’ DEEPAL, and BYD, had also acquired L3 autonomous driving road test licenses in China.

These permits were actually obtained as early as November, totaling 11 licenses, all for the AITO M9 model. Among these, 5 are for Chongqing, while 6 are for Shenzhen, making SERES the sole automaker currently holding L3 autonomous vehicle test licenses in both regions.

The flagship SUV under the AITO brand, the M9, is equipped with the HUAWEI ADS 2.0 advanced intelligent driving system. It boasts Huawei's newly designed 192-line LiDAR, along with millimeter-wave radar, cameras, ultrasonic radar, and other sensors, ensuring exceptional perception capabilities. Huawei's novel 192-line LiDAR stands out for its impressive 250-meter long-range recognition ability, 1.84 million points per second imaging capability, and a vertical resolution of 0.1°.

Moreover, the AITO M9 supports NCA (Navigation Cruise Assistance) functions not only on highways and urban expressways, but also offers autonomous parking services. This includes long-distance autonomous parking, self-retrieval, locating vacant spaces, and smart summoning via a smartphone.

Huawei is actively progressing towards implementing urban NCA applications. As of November 28, the HUAWEI ADS 2.0 system achieved nationwide NCA coverage on highways and urban expressways without relying on high-precision maps. By the end of December, the urban NCA feature will be available nationwide and will progressively be updated for the AITO M5, M7, M9, and the Luxeed S7 users before the Spring Festival.
