This milestone marks Beijing as the world's first capital city to initiate a demonstration application of passenger-carrying Robotaxi service from urban areas to airports, signifying the expansion of Apollo Go's autonomous driving scenarios. In the future, seamless autonomous driving from urban roads to airport expressways will be realized, offering users the convenience of a direct one-stop journey without transfers.
According to the 2024 Beijing Municipal Government Work Report, Beijing will commence the 4.0 phase of the construction of high-level autonomous driving demonstration zones, promoting the orderly opening of key application scenarios such as airports, train stations, and urban road sanitation.
As the world's largest autonomous driving mobility service provider, as of September 30, 2023, Baidu's Apollo Go had accumulated over 4.1 million ride orders. In the third quarter of 2023 alone, Apollo Go provided 821,000 rides, marking a 73% year-on-year surge.
