Xiaomi invests heavily in intelligent driving, aiming to stand among industry leaders in 2024

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Lei Jun, the CEO of Xiaomi, on March 26 announced on Weibo that Xiaomi is making significant investments in the field of intelligent driving, with its R&D team already surpassed 1,000 members, and is expected to exceed 1,500 by the end of the year.

Xiaomi has dedicated test vehicles and has accumulated over 10 million kilometers of road testing for intelligent driving.

Lei Jun stated that Xiaomi adheres to a full-stack self-developed technology approach, offering advanced intelligent driving features such as nationwide accessible high-level navigation, one-click valet parking, and intelligent parking assistance. Xiaomi's progress in intelligent driving is believed to be one of the fastest and most remarkable in the industry. The company aims to be among the top players in the industry by the end of 2024.

The Xiaomi SU7 launch event is scheduled for March 28 at 7 PM. Lei Jun revealed that there will be further updates on intelligent driving during the event.

In a previous Weibo post, Lei Jun emphasized that intelligent electric vehicles are fundamentally a combination of "automobile x electric drive x intelligence." The past decade has seen significant advancements in vehicle electrification, while the next decade will focus on intelligence. Intelligence will be the key factor determining success in this era.

Lei Jun highlighted that since entering the smartphone market in 2010, Xiaomi has become one of the top three global smartphone companies and the largest consumer-level AIoT platform. With comprehensive technological capabilities in OS, AI, robotics, and more, Xiaomi is gradually applying these strengths to the automotive industry. The combination of intelligent driving, smart cabin, and ecosystem will become Xiaomi's competitive advantage in the automotive sector.
